SaGa Emerald Beyond is the latest entry in the long-running SaGa series. As a follow-up of sorts to SaGa Scarlet Grace Ambitions, it expands on the deep and well-regarded combat system of its predecessor while delving into a setting inspired by science fiction. It offers up five campaigns, each with unique, idiosyncratic characters to enjoy.

This was a wonderful project to be a part of, as it reunited and expanded on the team I worked with on Scarlet Grace, which was one of my earliest projects as a translator—a real full-circle moment!

Much like its predecessor, Emerald Beyond has a fairly open structure that allows for many permutations of events to unfold, which made for a unique challenge when translating. And with six protagonists, ensuring we maintained consistent and enjoyable voices for them that were true to the flavor of the original was a priority, as well.
